For my Mom, On Mother’s Day

momIn December my Mom left her cancer-ridden body to go and be with her Lord. On Mother’s Day I want to honor her memory by sharing a poem that one of her close friends wrote shortly after she passed.

One Life
      by Sherry Gary

One life-lived in joy, in anticipation, in love
One life-lived believing in:
The grace of a mighty God,
The triumph of faith over adversity,
The power of prayer,
The joy of family,
The value of friendship,
The beauty of nature all around her,
The quest for knowledge,
The desire to explore,
The goodness in all people,
The love of country,
The strength of those who persevere,
The courage of those given great burdens to bear,
The unlimited capacity to love.
One life-cut much too short for those left behind.
But we know that Heaven is brighter this day
With the addition of Jenny’s smile.

I still have the bulletin from the funeral because of that poem. I thought it so beautifully described your mom and how we all should live. Miss you guys.
